Folkelarm has been held annually in Oslo since 2005, and in 2024, it will take place from November 14-17, 2024, at Riksscenen in Oslo
Our main focus is to present Nordic artists who are on the brink of success, either in their home country or internationally, to industry professionals who can lead to more bookings and performance opportunities.
The conference part is a meeting place for the Nordic and international music industry, where a series of talks, seminars, and debates are held during the day for artists, organizers, bookers, agents, and more. The showcase concerts take place in the evening and are open to a folk music-loving audience.
Folkelarm 2024 - 26 showcase artists, new collaborations, and a whole new day day for families!
Folkelarm starts Thursday morning with seminars, and in the evening, there will be an official opening and the final of Introfolk, where the Young Folk Musician of the Year will be crowned. There will be showcases and, of course, a dance party. On Friday and Saturday, we continue with seminars, showcase concerts, and dance performances. There will also be dance performances and acoustic concerts on Friday and Saturday. This year, the Folkelarm Award will be presented on Saturday evening, and on Sunday, November 17, we invite you to a free family day with three children's performances and activities all day at Riksscenen.
26 artists will showcase their talents for national and international industry professionals and the audience on Riksscenen’s professional stages. In addition, many of the artists will perform intimate concerts in the lavvu. And as if that wasn’t enough, various students from the Norwegian Academy of Music, Ole Bull Academy, and the University of South-Eastern Norway will participate. These artists have been selected by a Scottish jury after an open application process.
The two Scottish artists showcasing on Friday, November 15th are:
