Hedin & Meidell (Sverige)
Ida Meidell og Johan Hedin skaper i fellesskap rike klangverdener - duoen beveger seg gjennom låttradisjonens skiftende former og barokkens grasiøse uttrykk. Musikken er formet av Idas mange spillestiler og påvirkninger fra nær og fjern, og ikke minst av Johans unike måte å akkompagnere og pushe grensene for nøkkelharpens muligheter. Den gamle svenske låtskatten og dens forgreninger danner grunnlaget for duoens repertoar. Hedin og Meidell arrangerer musikken på en vakker og særpreget måte som gir plass for glitrende improvisasjoner i et inderlig samspill.
Duoen er aktuell med det hyllede debutalbumet “Klockarens musikaliska värld” (Gammalthea Records) som er basert på den narrative forestillingen med samme navn. Den bringer de glemte musikalske skattene til 1700-tallets svenske ‘klockare’ frem i lyset og forteller historien om arbeidet deres.
Ida Meidell er folkemusiker og barokkfiolinist med en sterk pasjon for fiolinens rike uttrykksspekter. Hennes følsomme spill og nærvær gjør hver forestilling til noe særlig. Ida har i mange år turnert på de europeiske folkemusikk- og barokkscener, og er ofte ansatt som lærer på internasjonale kurs i låtspill.
Johan Hedin er en nøkkelharpespiller fra Småland i Sør-Sverige som har blitt et forbilde for mange med sin unike spillestil. Johans utvikling av nøkkelharpens konstruksjon åpner nye musikalske rom for instrumentet, og leder det inn i barokkens sfære.

Acclaimed for their distinctive sound and interpretation of early Swedish tradition, Hedin & Meidell create rich soundscapes with their combination of baroque violin and nyckelharpa. Their music is shaped by Ida’s background in diverse fiddle traditions and baroque music, and by Johan’s skill accompanying and pushing the limits of the nyckelharpa. Experience their intricate and heartfelt revival of old tunes for new ears.
In december 2023 Hedin & Meidell released critically acclaimed debut album 'Klockarens musikaliska värld' (Gammalthea Records), based on their concert with the same name. It brings to light the forgotten musical treasures of the Swedish 18th century ‘klockare’, and tells the story of their work.
Johan Hedin and Ida Meidell first met during a live commission for the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). Since their debut as a duo at the 2019 Korrö Folk Festival, they have toured extensively across Sweden and beyond.
Ida Meidell is a Swedish folk musician and baroque violinist driven by a life-long passion for the diversity of the violin. Ida brings depth and sensitivity to each individual performance. She has toured the European folk- and baroque scenes for over a decade, and is also a sought-after fiddle teacher at traditional music courses around Europe.
Johan Hedin is a nyckelharpa player from southern Sweden who by his style of playing has been crucial to the development of the nyckelharpa scene of today. Johan’s developing of the nyckelharpa has opened-up for new possibilities with the instrument, and provide the space for unique new music to arise.
