Den skotske kraftkvartetten FARA ble virkelig tent og fyrt opp til å gjøre noe nytt under lockdown. Nedstegningen ble brukt på å lage det enormt populære filmprosjekt, 'The Orkney Series', og til å produsere det etterlengtede tredje studioalbumet som kom i 2022. Et sprudlende album med splitter nye selvskrevne instrumentalspor, og med sanger inspirert av diktere fra Orkenøyene. "Energy Islands" er inspirert av Orknøyenes revolusjonerende rolle innen fornybar energi. Albumet ble uhyre populært og kom den inn på UK folk charts topp 10!
FARA tok Orkney Folk Festival med storm i 2014, og har siden den gang befestet ssin posisjon i front på den skotske folkemusikkscenen. Deres unike blanding av trollbindende vokal, intrikat vevde feleharmonier og energiske closers, kombinert med et åpenbart slektskap født i barndommen, vil garantert glede og underholde publikum uansett hvor de går.
Bandet ble nominert i 2015 til Scots Trad Music Awards for Årets Up and Coming Act, og fremførte et triumferende sett på BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards 2017 i Albert Hall som Horizon Award-nominerte. De har vunnet en German Critics' Choice Award og fått en Live Act of the Year-nominasjon ved 2019s Scots Trad Music Awards. De fortsetter å turnere internasjonalt, med utsolgte forestillinger på festivaler over hele Europa, Australia og Nord-Amerika, samt en turné i Kina i 2023.

Fired up and raring to go after a lockdown spent creating hugely popular film project, ‘The Orkney Series’, Scottish powerhouse quartet FARA unveiled their highly anticipated third studio album in 2022. Bursting with brand new self-penned instrumental tracks, and with songs adapted from the words of Orcadian poets, ‘Energy Islands’ is fuelled by their native Orkney’s revolutionary role in renewable energy. Immensely popular it enterted the UK folk charts at no 10!
Fusing the talents of three fine Orcadian fiddlers and vocalists - Jeana Leslie, Catriona Price and Kristan Harvey - alongside stand-out Highland pianist and newest member Rory Matheson, FARA have firmly secured their foothold at the forefront of the Scottish folk scene since taking 2014’s Orkney Folk Festival by storm. Their unique mix of spell-binding vocals, intricately woven fiddle harmonies and energetic closers, combined with an obvious kinship born in childhood, is sure to delight and entertain audiences wherever they go.
Shortlisted in 2015’s Scots Trad Music Awards for Up and Coming Act of the Year, the band performed a triumphant set at the 2017 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards at the Albert Hall as Horizon Award nominees and have gone on to win a German Critics’ Choice Award and a Live Act of the Year nomination at 2019’s Scots Trad Music Awards.
