Emilia Lajunen
Emilia Lajunen is one of the main exponents of the strong and vital generation of young Finnish folk music performers. She has a master's degree in fiddle and nyckelharpa music from the Sibelius Academy Department of Folk Music. The Finnish folk music is the foundation for Lajunen’s repertoire, but she is also influenced by Swedish and Balkan folk music. Later this year, Lajunen is set to release her debut album featuring experimental compositions for nyckelharpe, fiddle and vocals as well as contributions from guest musicians Eero Grund Ström and Filippo Gambetta.
Lajunen has worked with theatre and dance productions, and has also composed music for puppet theater.
Currently, she is an active member of ensembles Spontaani Vire, SUO, Kirjava lintu, Juuri & Juuri and also devotes much time to her own solo project.
