Co-Creating the Future of Folk Dance

This interactive workshop brings together presenters, dance educators, and dance artists to explore how we can strengthen both social and staged folk dance across Europe. Through practical exercises, collaborative mapping, and shared discussion, participants will identify challenges, opportunities, and concrete strategies for future development.

The goal is to develop new approaches that help create more opportunities for folk dance to be experienced, practiced, and presented, ensuring that both social dance traditions and staged folk dance performances gain greater visibility and access to festivals, venues, cultural programmes, and public spaces. Together, participants will explore how stronger connections between participation, artistic creation, and presentation can support a vibrant and sustainable future for folk dance.
